Christmas at 220 Cochrane

Christmas truly is my favourite time of the year!  I love the music, the smells of cinnamon and gingerbread, and the decorations.  We go pretty crazy around here with the decorations, and we've been hard at work getting it all done.  We put the finishing touches on both the indoor and outdoor decorations this past weekend, so here's a few shots of how things are looking these days.

Now that our decorating is done, I guess it's time to start baking and shopping and wrapping...

"Decorations Still Up" In March? You Bet!

Our decorations, Dec 2014.

How would you feel if you came across a picture of your house that somebody else had posted on the internet?  What if it was posted in a negative context?

Yesterday as I was checking out some pictures of homes in Port Perry, I came across a shot of our house that was posted here.  It was posted a few weeks ago, and talks about how some of our Christmas decorations were still up in March.

I was horrified as I read through the post and comments.  A few of the commenters called us "lazy, lazy, lazy" and said that they "would hate to live across the street from us".

We have done nothing but work since we moved into this house seven months ago.  In fact, in the past seven months we have thrown a great wedding, had the house rewired, cleared out a jungle of gardens, renovated our bathroom, walk in closet, living room and dining room, and started the process of adopting our first child.
I don't think that's being lazy.

Fortunately, once the ground thawed, those decorations came down.  It's finally spring and we've already been outside gardening.

Unfortunately, I'm a sensitive person who takes everything to heart.  This will haunt me for a long time to come!

A Long Overdue Post

It's been a while.  Sorry 'bout that!  Things got busy and before we knew it, Christmas had snuck up on us.
A lot has happened since our last post.  We dealt with our squirrel problem, had some windows removed, had some others replaced and our stone wall is finally done.  Our grand piano was delivered and the house has now been decorated for Christmas.

We both love Christmas and were eager to get this place all jazzed up for the holidays.  Because one tree is never enough, we ended up with four.  One in each window!

In our last house we used a lot of silver and white in our Christmas decorating, but this year we went with a more traditional colour scheme.  We like to change it up!

Outside is all done up as well, and we've had lots of comments on our train which we purchased just before we moved into this house.

Our hope is to use our time off over the holidays to finally get rid of the tulip wallpaper in the living room. We've been picking out paint colours and it's sure to be a big transformation.  I can't wait!
